Tesla Model 3 Lighting Mods

The Model 3 is already one of the most recognizable cars on the road: clean lines, minimal design, and a cabin that feels ahead of its time. But if you've spent any time in the Model 3 community, you know lighting is where owners really start to have fun. From a simple footwell strip to full RGB ambient systems, a few well-chosen upgrades and the car looks and feels completely different, day or night.

Interior Lighting

Tesla gives the Model 3 a famously clean cabin, which also means a fairly dim one after dark. Interior kits are the most popular starting point because the change is immediate and you live with it every day.

• Center console ambient kits. Custom-cut LED strips that run the length of the console. The most direct way to add Tesla Model 3 ambient lighting without touching trim panels. Available in versions for Gen 1 (2017-2020) and 2021-2023 cars.
• Full-coverage ambient systems. Our most complete option, wrapping the dash, doors, and console in a single controllable system.
• LED interior lighting kits. Direct replacements for the factory bulbs in three color options. Beyond the visual effect, these make it far easier to find things in the car at night.
• Under-seat footwell LEDs. A subtle glow at floor level. One of the least expensive ways to add interior lights to a Tesla Model 3.
• Frunk LED strips. Ultra-bright and waterproof, so loading groceries in the dark stops being a guessing game.
• Door projector puddle lights. Mounted in the door panels, these project a custom image onto the ground when the doors open. They look sharp and they genuinely help you see where you're stepping.
• Illuminated door sill plates. Backlit scuff plates that light on entry and protect the sill paint at the same time. Available for both body styles.

Exterior Lighting

• Sequential rear fog lights. Programmed to flash in a sweeping pattern rather than all at once, which makes the car more visible to drivers behind you in fog or heavy rain.
• Front sequential sweeping fog lights and blinkers. The Audi-style front kits bring a sweeping turn signal to a car that never came with one.
• Eagle Eye tail light kits with sequential signals. A full taillight replacement and the biggest visual change on this page.
• Side mirror covers with sequential blinkers. Retrofit covers that add repeater turn signals to the mirrors, so the exterior reads as a coordinated build rather than a single upgrade.
• RGB self-presenting LED door handles. Automatic welcome handles with color lighting, available for both the original body and the Highland.
• Custom rear windscreen brake light decals. Your own text or design sits behind the rear glass and lights with the brake bar.

Carbon Fiber Light Trim

Not lights themselves, but they frame them. Our spotlight cover plates and tail light surrounds replace the stock plastic trim with real molded carbon fiber in gloss, matte, or forged finishes. Carbon fiber effect versions are available at a lower price if you want the look without the material cost. These pair well with any of the exterior kits above and are the easiest way to add a bit of luxury around the rear lights.

What to Look For in an Ambient Lighting Kit

Not every kit is built the same. The ones worth buying share a few traits:

Fitment: Original Model 3 vs. Highland

Tesla redesigned the Model 3 for 2024, and lighting parts do not carry over between the two.

• 2017 to 2023 Model 3: the original body. Most interior kits, fog light upgrades, tail light kits, and mirror covers on this page are built for these cars, with some split further between Gen 1 (2017-2020) and 2021-2023.
• 2023 to 2026 Model 3 Highland: the refreshed body. Look for Highland-specific door sills, puddle lights, RGB door handles, and carbon fiber taillight trim.

Installation

Most Tesla Model 3 lights in this collection are designed as plug-and-play or peel-and-stick, using factory connectors and existing trim gaps. Interior kits generally take under an hour with basic trim tools. Taillight and fog light replacements are more involved and are worth handing to an installer if you haven't done wiring work before.
