2023 Porsche Taycan Benefits from a Host of Software Updates

Regardless of the vehicle's age or engine type, all model versions of the all-electric Porsche Taycan can now be upgraded to the 2023 model year with a software update. This implies that even older Taycans will gain new features and the most recent efficiency and charge curve enhancements.

With the release of the GTS models in November 2021, Porsche made some adjustments to the charging curve:

Although the peak power of around 270 kW remains, it is now accessible across a broader area. The result is evident in the P3 Charging Index: the Taycan GTS outperforms its sibling, the Audi e-tron GT, during the whole 10-to-80% charging window.

One of the advantages of the software update that Porsche has revealed for all 75,000 Taycans delivered to date is a better charging curve. In other words, all existing vehicles may be upgraded to the 2023 model year's software level upon request.

New features have been added that add and improve functions, while others have been reviewed or altered to improve the client experience. Following this upgrade, everyone who has been driving a Taycan from the beginning of its production cycle will be pleasantly pleased by how much the vehicle has evolved since then."

The actual extent of the update and the duration of the required workshop visit are dependent on the software state of the specific Taycan. The older the vehicle, the greater the number of upgrades and innovations that will be added.

A Quick Glance

Among the most significant upgrades are a speedier preconditioning of the battery and an increase in temperature for some models. According to Porsche, this enables the vehicle to be swiftly charged more frequently and over a wider range of battery charge levels. In colder temperatures, waste heat from other components is utilized more to keep the battery at its proper temperature, resulting in better range and shorter charging periods in some instances.

The vehicle's infotainment system has also been upgraded significantly. There are fresh visuals and new functionality. For instance, the navigation system may filter and choose charging stations according on their charge capability. Vehicles equipped with a head-up display receive an enhanced navigation map display. Additionally, Android Auto is now wireless, and the voice assistant has been enhanced.

Other enhancements include parking assistance, whose sensors have a larger range and do a more thorough search for available parking spaces so that even tight parking spaces are now a choice for the driver. On request, a keyless opening capability can also be installed.

The 2023 Taycan will be available for $88,150 for the sedan and $99,150 for the Taycan Cross Turismo wagon when deliveries commence later this year. Both numbers contain the destination.
