2024 Tesla Cybertruck First Look: Elon Musk's Unusual Pickup Finally Arrives | Tesla Cybertruck Specifications And Overview

After a four-year wait, the 2024 Tesla Cybertruck was finally unveiled in the US on November 30, 2023. Although there are now only a handful of available combinations, Tesla promises that even more will be accessible in the near future.

The Tesla Cybertruck is available with three primary drivetrain options: rear-wheel drive (RWD), dual-motor, all-wheel drive (AWD), and tri-motor Cyberbeast, which is also AWD.

At its most basic level, the RWD has the shortest range and smallest battery. The anticipated release year is 2025. Besides the AWD and Cyberbeast models, Tesla will introduce a new "Range Extender" battery option later this year.

At launch, the Tesla Cybertruck is available for purchase in a fully-equipped Foundation Series (FS) model that costs $20,000 more than the base model. It should be mentioned that not all of the data that we typically post is accessible for the Cybertruck, though, since Tesla has not done so.

Tesla Cybertruck Pricing

In 2019, Tesla boasted that its Cybertruck flagship model would have 500 miles of range for $69,900. It was planned that the base model would begin at $39,900. Costs in the end are much different. Starting prices for the base model year 2025 Tesla Cybertruck RWD is expected to be $60,990 (plus mandatory costs).

Tesla Cybertruck Pricing

Starting at $79,990 (Tesla states that these prices are estimates) is the base pricing for the AWD Tesla Cybertruck. To us, it doesn't matter if it's on 20-inch wheels with all-season tires or 35-inch wheels with all-terrain tires; the functionality remains the same. Starting at $99,990, you can have the more powerful Tesla Cybertruck Cyberbeast.

Cybertrucks are available in three trim levels: regular AWD, Cyberbeast, and the limited Foundation Series (FS), which is fully equipped but costs $20,000 extra. And the corresponding amounts are $99,990 and $119,990. There is a little reduction in the starting price range because the FS versions come standard with 35-inch all-terrain (AT) tires.

There are also two mandatory additional expenses of $1,995 for the destination charge and $250 for the order fee, for a grand total of $2,245. Although we only noticed this number on the FS configurator, we are assuming it is the same for all editions.

The Range Extender (RE) is something that Tesla plans to offer as an option for the AWD and Cyberbeast models by the end of 2024. An extra range of up to 130 miles should be provided by this huge auxiliary battery. The FS configurator featured in the video for the Whole Mars Catalog indicates that this option will cost $16,000. A visit to a Tesla service center is necessary for the option's installation. The most expensive Tesla Cybertruck option, the FS Cyberbeast with RE, will set you back $138,235 (Cyberbeast).

According to initial reports, the Tesla Cybertruck, along with the AWD and Cyberbeast models, is eligible for the $7,500 federal tax credit for electric vehicles. Trucks and SUVs priced below $80,000 are the only ones eligible for the tax benefit. Although the AWD and RWD Cybertrucks will eventually be eligible for federal tax credits, the present models are all Founders Series trucks with higher base pricing, therefore they aren't.

Mechanical System

A single electric motor will be standard on the base model of the Tesla Cybertruck RWD. The company claims it can reach 112 mph and can accelerate from 0-60 mph in 6.5 seconds.

Mechanical System

More power (600 horsepower) and quicker acceleration (4.1 seconds from 0 to 60 mph) are the outcomes of the all-wheel-drive system's dual electric cars, one for each axle.

The Cybertruck Will Eventually Offer Up To 845 Horsepower

Three electric motors—one up front and two asynchronous induction motors in the back—contribute to a maximum system output of 845 horsepower in the most advanced Cyberbeast. Despite subtracting a one-foot rollout, Tesla claims that the 0-60 mph acceleration will take only 2.6 seconds. Along with it, the Cyberbeast has a higher top speed, reaching 130 mph. Vehicle combinations (wheels/tires and standard equipment/weight) could affect the precise figures.

Runtime And Power Sources

Tesla has been mum on the subject of the Cybertruck's battery life capacity. We do know that the RWD's battery is smaller compared to the AWD and Cyberbeast. A new battery option called Range Extender (RE) will be available for the AWD and Cyberbeast. It can be put in the pickup truck bed at a Tesla service center and will take up around one-third of the area, according to Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla.

Runtime And Power Sources

Structural cylindrical battery cells, which Tesla developed and manufactured in-house, make up the main battery pack of the Tesla Cybertruck. Equipped with four 200-volt batteries and 11,000 pounds, it is an 800-volt class system. In terms of voltage, it can switch between 400 and 800 volts in series or parallel. Nearly 700 volts DC is the nominal voltage of the battery, as stated in the Tesla Cybertruck handbook (see at 27:35).

A lithium-ion 4 Ah/48V battery, rather than a lead-acid one, provides the 48 volts needed by the low-voltage system. Other manufacturers were given access to Tesla's 48-volt system specs.

According to Tesla, the AWD variant uses 42.9 kWh per 100 miles, which is 429 Wh per mile. Including charging losses, the capacity would be 145.86 kWh, taking into account the range of up to 340 miles. Given that the Range Extender (RE) adds around 38 percent to the range, we may assume that its capacity would expand to around 47 kWh, for a grand total of around 170 kWh.

There is currently no information available on the EPA website regarding the combined driving range of the Tesla Cybertruck. However, according to Tesla, the RWD version can go 250 miles, the AWD version 340 miles (with all-terrain tires), and the Cyberbeast version 320 miles (with 301 miles of tires). The AWD version's driving range is reduced by 22 miles or 6.5%, and the Cyberbeast version's range is reduced by 19 miles, or 5.9%, due to the AT tires.

EV Motor, Power, And Tesla Pickup Performance

Tesla claims the Cybertruck AWD and Cyberbeast can Supercharge at 250 kW on its website. The AWD can recharge 136 miles and the Cyberbeast 128 miles in 15 minutes. The RWD version is unknown. Our Cyber Life tested a Cybertruck at 255 kW charging.

No information is available on the Tesla Cybertruck's main website about its onboard charger. We think it's at least 11.5 kW, like Tesla's automobiles. Powersharing power export is available on the Cybertruck. Four 120-volt outlets (two in the cabin and two in the bed, up to 20 amps) and one 240-volt outlet (in the cargo bed, up to 40A) can deliver 9.6 kilowatts. In an outage, the vehicle can power a dwelling at 11.5 kW. Base installation requires a Tesla Gateway 3V and Universal Wall Connector.

Electric Vehicle Payload Capacity, Towing, And Hauling

The general payload and towing capacities of the Tesla Cybertruck are 2,500 and 11,000 lbs. Numbers may vary by setup. The forthcoming RWD model can tow 7,500 towing capacity of lbs.

Electric Vehicle Payload Capacity, Towing, And Hauling

The first testing of towing 11,000 lbs in cold weather showed that the Tesla Cybertruck AWD's range maybe 100 miles (less than a fourth of its nominal value). All-electric vehicles sometimes lose almost half their range while pulling hefty loads.

Tesla's website says the AWD version weighs 6,603 lbs and the Cyberbeast 6,843. Approximately 120.9 cubic feet of cargo. The bed is 6' long.
