The Most EV-Friendly Christmas Days Out in the UK

The Most EV-Friendly Christmas Days Out in the UK

Christmas is the one time of year when people of all ages can go out and have a good time together, doing things like going ice skating, shopping at UK's largest Christmas markets, and visiting Santa in his grotto and regions of England are most suitable for electric cars.

With over a million electric vehicles on the road in the UK, many of us are wondering if we'll be able to get around and see the sights without worrying about running out of juice.

We have researched the most exciting family attractions for EV owners in the UK to help you make the most of the holiday season.

On Christmas Day, Birmingham was Declared the most EV-Friendly City in the United Kingdom.

Based on our analysis of four indicators (reviews of local Christmas markets, the number of electric vehicle (EV) chargers within one mile of Christmas activities, the average cost of the charger, and the percentage of fast or rapid chargers), we determined that Birmingham received a total of 48 points out of 64.

Online reviewers were most enthusiastic about the Christmas market in Birmingham, giving it an average rating of 4.2 out of 5. Brum also ranked first for having the most chargers within a mile of its outdoor ice rink, Santa's grottos, and Christmas market. The city has installed 254 charging stations for EVs in the vicinity of holiday events.

For Electric Vehicle Users, Christmas in Belfast is the Second Best Option Due to the City's Low Charging Costs.

Birmingham leads the pack by two points, while second-place Belfast is only one point behind with 47 points. It has the lowest cost of charging an electric vehicle, at just 10.8 pence per kilowatt-hour.

With a large percentage of fast and quick chargers within a mile of Christmas activities, the city received a favorable rating. As many as 46.8% of the 62 charges were classified as either quick or rapid.

When it Comes to Electric Vehicle (EV)-Friendly Holiday Eevents, Bristol Ranks Third Best.

Data analysis revealed that Bristol, with a score of 45, is the third most EV-friendly city for a Christmas day trip.

When it comes to the availability of charging stations for electric vehicles, Bristol ranks second, earning it a spot in our top three. There are 132 charging stations within a mile of Bristol's holiday events, which is more than can be said for most other cities.

The percentage of fast or quick chargers in the city is also high. Fast or quick charging was present in 57% of the devices studied.

Scoring as the Number Four Destination for Electric Vehicle Owners on Christmas Day

According to our research, Edinburgh is the fourth greatest place in the UK to take an electric vehicle on Christmas Day. To a large extent, the city was graded on how much its electric chargers cost. Electric vehicle owners may get their batteries charged near holiday events for as little as 17 pence per kilowatt-hour.

The Christmas market, outdoor ice rink, and Santa's grottos in Edinburgh are conveniently located near 77 available chargers, earning the city a high ranking.

Sheffield has More Quick Chargers than Any Other City.

Sheffield has the highest concentration of fast or quick charges, although Birmingham is the greatest city for EV drivers in general over the holidays.

Sheffield has the highest percentage (86%) of quick and speedy EV charging close to Christmas activities among the cities analyzed. So, if you're not a patient person, Sheffield is the place to be this holiday season.

At this time of year, Norwich and Cardiff are the Least Accommodating to Electric Vehicles (EVs).

Norwich received the lowest possible score (21 out of 64) and is thus the least holiday-friendly city for EVs. There are just four EV chargers in the city, and only 22 percent of those are fast/rapid charges. At just 23 cents per kilowatt-hour, though, the city's charges are the fourth cheapest in the world.

Cardiff scores 25 out of 100, making it the second-least EV-friendly city over the holidays. The city has the highest average cost of 51.4p per kWh for charging electric vehicles, the highest of any location analyzed. Number-wise, Cardiff didn't fare so well, however, with only 29 possible local Christmas events. Nevertheless, the Cardiff Christmas Market consistently receives rave reviews and ratings of 4.5 stars or above on travel websites.
